The central hilly part in Shikoku Karst, one of the "3 major karst topographies*" in Japan. Meadows as far as the eye can reach; visitors can see cattle grazing from spring to autumn. There are also accommodations and a camping site.
* Hiraodai (Fukuoka Pref.), Akiyoshidai (Yamaguchi Pref.) and Shikoku Karst (Ehime Pref. and Kochi Pref.)
Visitors can see the grandeur of nature in Mezurudaira, where cattle are idyllically grazing from spring to autumn. In summer, visitors will feel cool air as they observe blossoms of alpine plants. There is also an extensive camping facility where campers and nature lovers come and stay for an outdoor experience.

Eastern edge of the Shikoku Karst that stretches along the border between Ehime and Kochi Prefectures. It is a gently rolling plateau, with Tengu no mori as its peak. Tengu no mori is surrounded by white birch and red pine trees, which gives it a different face from the karst* scenery.
* Geographical features underlain by limestone that is easily eroded by rain water.
Visitors will be greeted with seasonal attraction throughout the year; fresh green leaves in spring, camping and a cool breeze in summer, foliage in autumn and skiing in winter. Also, there is a trail that leads to Tengu no mori, which is suitable for hiking. From above the tree line, there is a majestic view where you can look over the mountain ridges of the Shikoku Mountains (elevation around 1,000 m). On a clear sunny day, you will have a panoramic view overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Visitors can have a therapeutic walk in the forest where there are enormous 200 to 600 year old zelkova and Japanese horse chestnut trees. An approximately 600 year old tree called Ibushi no Otochi was designated by the Forestry Agency to be one of the "100 giants of the forest". It's a gigantic tree with a circumference of 6.26 m.
Visitors can walk the 2 km trail looking at the exposed limestone and fallen trees covered with moss. At the end of the trail is the Ibushi no Otochi, an overwhelmingly gigantic 600 year old tree. It is an area where you can have a pleasant and therapeutic forest walk.
A simple accommodation located in the central part of Shikoku Karst, between the border of Ehime and Kochi Prefectures. Some local products are sold such as green tea, sweet dairy products, and stewed and smoked Amago (red spotted masu trout) from Kumakogen Town. Cottages for rent called Mezurudaira Cottages are available. There is also a camping site.
Shikoku Mountains including Mt.Ishizuchi can be viewed from here. On a sunny day, visitors would be able to view the Pacific Ocean as well. At the restaurant, other than the standard menu, outdoor barbecue on a charcoal fire and the local specialty, Amago dishes, are available. In summer, very rich vanilla soft cream is also available.
A barrier-free accommodation in the Tengu Highland on the border of Ehime and Kochi Prefectures. From 10時00分 a.m. to 4時00分 p.m., visitors can use the facility for meals without staying overnight. There is a camping ground as well as a bungalow for various users' needs. There is also the "therapeutic road in the forest*" approved by the Forestry Agency.
*A therapeutic recreation by basking in nature and walking in the forest.
Some of the food that we offer has seasonal and local ingredients from the mountains, including among other things, stream fish and mountain vegetable cuisine, as well as boar or pheasant meat hot pot. From the outdoor hot springs, bathers will be able to view Ishizuchisan to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. The therapeutic road in the forest offers visitors fresh air and a view of seasonal blossoms in the highlands.
Located on National Route 33 by the entrance of Omogokei in the Ishizuchi National Park, our landmark is the large waterwheel at this roadside station. It is an oasis on the road where there is a parking lot and visitors can try food made from fresh highland vegetables and stream fish.
At the restaurant, dishes made from fresh local highland vegetables and stream fish are served. Local special products such as Mikawa-cha (tea) and Mikawa tenobe-somen (handmade thin noodles) can be purchased. In the neighboring market called Mikawa Furusato Market, fresh highland vegetables as well as prepared food such as wild vegetable rice are available.
We are located along Prefectural Route 12 Saijo Kuma Road, near the Kuma Museum of Art. Fruit and vegetables from Kumakogen Town are sold here. There is also a small cafeteria. Visitors can have a tour of the food processing facility.
At the market section, fresh local fruit and vegetables, as well as processed food using fresh produce are sold. In the cafeteria section, we offer such food as our special Yomogi (mugwort) udon and various sweet bean desserts using local adzuki beans. We also have a stone oven by the building where visitors can have their own pizza made with local produce as toppings, Mountain Treat Pizza (by appointment, for a fee).
